More from the Country

So many recent XC results, great to see our younger members getting in on the action at Lewes last week with Freddie Wallis and Ella Perry competing at the regional Schools XC event. Great effort from both with Ella finishing 10th and qualifying through to the primary schools Sussex finals, Well done.
The turn of the secondary schools last Wed in Brighton. On a tough hilly course we had a fantastic turnout of runners. Junior girls saw Bethany Cook 1st, Elouise Key 4th, Daisy Burton 9th, Amber Blake 11th, Hannah Miller 25th. With 173 runners, massive field for this age group all these girls excelled to place in the top 25. Well done to Beth and Elouise who secure automatic selection to English Schools in March. Junior boys saw Benedict Noon have his best ever race finishing 12th out of 178.
Inter girls saw Kaja Simonsen Brickley go one better with 11th /72 runners, one of her best performances to date.
A very speedy inter boys race saw Adam Armitage lose a shoe and still manage to bag 19th, Charlie Lovett following him home in 20th and Seb Rann 55th /102 runners.
Senior boys saw Noah Canby continue to improve over the country with a strong 5th backed up by Travis Hutchison in 18th /53.
All athletes finishing in the top 20 have been invited to run for Sussex at the SE Schools xc champs in Bedfordshire on the 3rd Feb.
Finally at the other end of our age groups it was lovely to see a strong representation at the Sussex master xc champs in lancing on Sat afternoon.
Coach Stuart Wilkinson kicked off the day in theO50 category 32/72, followed by O40 Matt Dowle 25th, Chris Mizen 32nd, and Paul Payne 39th. Well done to all of you young and old. Getting out there and giving it a go!!

South East Inter County Cross Country Championships

Some excellent results at the South East Inter county Cross Country Championships in Oxford.
Two winners from Team BW athletes with Bethany Cook and Almi Nuraker in the U15 and U17 Girls respectively.
Also Daisy Burton 22nd in the U13 Girls, Chloe Cook 12th Senior Women and Eloise Key 57th U15 Girls.
Some great experiences for the Girls in a higher level of competion to the County League events which they can hopefully learn and develop from.

Sussex League Cross Country @ Bexhill

The latest round of the Sussex League Cross Country was held at Bexhill on Saturday. Many of the Team BW athletes turned out with some excellent results.
Special mention to our Girls who among the results from the day finished 1st in the U13/U15/U17/Senior events with Daisy Burton, Bethany Cook, Almi Nerurkar and Chloe Cook respectively. A great achievement for the Team BW athletes.

Beachy Head Marathon


The 2017 addition of the Beachy Head Marathon produced a team BW athlete overall winner with Dr Todd Leckie in his first Marathon crossing the line in a very respectable 2.56.45. Fellow Team BW team mates Stuart Wilkinson and Simon Vieweg also completed the challenging course on the off road trails around the South Downs National Park.

Duathlon & Swimming take centre stage this weekend

Many congratulations to Daisy Burton on winning the Tristar 2 SE triathlon series this year. 🎉A culmination of a lot of hard work and consistent effort throughout the year. Well done. Also wins on the day for TeamBW teammates Bethany Cook and Almi Nerurker
Also to Noah Manos fantastic 3rd in the Tristar 1 category.
It was lovely to also see So many young athletes contesting one or more races this summer. Priority is to have fun out there!!! And you all looked like you were having lots of it!!! Onwards to the xc and mud with a few galas thrown in!! Forever active 🏊🚴🏃

Meanwhile n the pool this weekend at the SE Regional Short Course Masters championships held at Guildford PaulStanden Payne flew the Team BW flag with some fine results in the 40/44 category..
GOLD – 200m IM & 100m Fly
SILVER – 100m IM
also 6th 200m Free, 7th 100m Free and 8th 50m Free.

Also at the Eastbourne Open Meet Eloise Key posted some more PBs and county qualifying times in the 100m IM, !00m Free and 50m Free. A further PB in the 400m IM made for a successful day of swims.

Sussex County Cross Country Relay Success

The Sussex Cross Country Relays at Goodwood saw success for Team BW athletes with 2xBronze medals in the U15 Girls and Senior Mens Team.

The Team BW  U15 Girls Team of Bethany Cook (Leg 1), Hannah Miller (Leg 2) and Kaja Simonsen-Brickley (Leg 3) and the Senior Mens Team of Kieren Lindars, Noah Canby, Jamie Bedwell and Luke Howard.
